Description
The Laser Level Sensor is used to measure the liquid level of molten aluminum and control the liquid level of aluminum in a closed loop control system. The operates over a measuring range of 0.1m to 10m (0.32ft to 32.8ft) off of molten aluminum alloys as hot as 900°C (1652°F) with an accuracy of 1mm (0.039in).
The Molten Aluminum Laser Level Sensor uses the phase comparison principle for distance measurement. The laser sensor emits visible laser beams of different frequencies, receives the scattered laser return signal from the measured object, compares the received laser signal with the reference signal, and then uses a microprocessor to calculate the distance between objects corresponding to the corresponding offset. The measurement accuracy can reach mm level.
Straightforward alignment is easily accomplished via the visible red laser measuring beam.
Accuracy is 1mm (0.039in) with repeatability is 0.5mm (0.0197in) and the user scalable resolution is 0.1mm (0.004in).
The zero offset and the span of the 4 - 20mA analog output are both user programmable. The distance offset is also user programmable, this allows the user to define a zero point independent of the analog output zero offset.
Provided with a user programmable digital switching output which is triggered by exceeding in the positive or negative direction a user programmable distance threshold. The hysteresis of the digital switching output is also programmable.
The is provided in a robust dust and waterproof protected IP66 enclosure. Standard operating temperature range is -10°C to 50°C (-4°F to 122°F). An optional internal PTC heater is available for operation down to -40°C (-40°F. Optional Secondary Environmental Enclosures are available for additional protection for indoor, outdoor and elevated temperature applications.
The low cost Molten Aluminum Laser Level Sensor provides a highly accurate measurement reading. It is ideal to measure the liquid level of molten aluminum and control the liquid level of aluminum in a closed loop control system.
Supplied as standard with a either RS232 or an optional RS422/RS485 serial interface with a 2400 to 38,400 Baud Rate & a programmable 4 - 20mA 16 BIT analog output.
Optional ProfiBus DP, ProfiNet, and Ethernet TCP/IP Field Bus Interface Options are also available. DeviceNet and EthernetI/P Field Bus Interface Options will soon be available.
Housing Specifications
The Molten Aluminum Laser Level Sensor is extremely versatile and can be programmed to operate in various distance measurements modes either remotely controlled or automatically, using a PC or a host computer or as a stand alone microprocessor device. The AL30 is provided with LDMTool PC software that allows the user to communicate with the laser via a serial link and to set the lasers various parameters.
Distance measurement of the AL30 can be controlled in these various modes of operation:
- Manually with a PC using HyperTerminal, a terminal emulation program or the provided LDMTool software via the RS232 or the optional RS422/RS485 serial interface
- Manually by transmitting ASCII characters via the RS232 or the optional RS422/RS485 serial interface from a PLC, a PC, a host computer or a stand alone microprocessor device.
- Automatically as a stand alone device and programmed to start in the AutoStart mode.
- Continuously by selecting distance tracking mode
- Remotely controlled by using the external trigger
- Remotely controlled via the serial interface
Distance measurement can be monitored in different ways:
- Using the 4 - 20 mA Analog Output
- Data transfer using the RS232 serial interface
- Data transfer using the optional RS422/RS485 serial interface
- Data transfer using the optional ProfiBus, Profinet or the Ethernet TCP/IP FieldBus Interface.
